It's almost 2012: the year when the Mayan calendar ends. The year when we'll be reading a lot of hype about the end of the world. When I read about the Sun Stopped Shining Blog Tour, I started to think about possibilities for survival...and being a lover of the paranormal and urban fantasy genres of fiction, my thoughts turned to the possibilities of living on IN A FICTIONAL WORLD.

A comet has hit the earth and it is splitting apart, but I have a chance to leap into ONE book of fiction and live there for all eternity. What book would it be?

I gave long consideration to choosing Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Mr. Darcy. Need I say more? It's also a world of gentility and easily living at a slow pace. Sounds great for a vacation, but for all eternity? No. Not exciting enough. After further thought, I decided on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling. To me, this is the perfect book. Who wouldn't love to live for eternity at Hogwarts? A great place to explore. It probably has enough nooks and crannies to make things interesting for a long time. Also, third book in the HP series has some exciting action to keep me interested but not enough to make eternity too scary. Voldemort and his minions, although threatening certainly, aren't deadly to anyone. Dumbledore, Snape and Sirius are still alive. Plus, my two black cats could go with me and fit right in there. Yes. This is the book for me.

Tomorrow I'll start posting the ETERNITY book choices of some of my author friends along with giving you some information about THEIR OWN books. Be sure to stop by and enter again. The more posts you comments on, the more entries you have to win one of the prizes.

Please leave a comment (with email address) about what book in which you would choose to live for eternity, for a chance to win one either an ebook copy of my book Entanglements or the GRAND PRIZE $20 Amazon gift card. THE PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED JANUARY 1, 2012 from random draw.

ENTANGLEMENTS: Teen KIZZY TAYLOR is just hoping for an evening of fun when she joins her friends in a spelunking expedition through an under-city tunnel. But fun turns bizarre when Kizzy accidentally opens a vortex and her stepsister is swept through to an evil alternate dimension. The only way to rescue her stepsister is to reopen the vortex and go in after her. But is her new boyfriend, ROM CALIXO, going to help Kizzy or try to stop her? And if she can get past Rom, will she be able to get back home?

  1. Oh tricky.... All the books I love are sad. No wait, I know. I'll spend the rest of eternity in Atlas Shrugged By Ayn Rand.

  2. I would pick Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I have been hooked on the Little House series since I was a kid. I even dressed up as Laura for Halloween once. :)

  3. I'd choose If on a Winter's Night a Traveler by Italo Calvino. There are so many labyrinthine twists I could travel around in there forever!

Nice to meet you during the blog tour!

  7. I'd also have to say Harry Potter (along with a gazillion other people, I'm sure!). If you'd make me narrow it down to one volume, I'd choose the last one since it covers the longest span of time and I could do and see the most! I had a harder time dropping out of that story when it ended than any I've read before or since :)

  8. I've mentioned in your featured post The Count of Monte Cristo but 2nd choice would be (shameless plug) my next release Verliege to find out "If I Could Bargain With The Dead"

  9. I would live in Terry Prachetts world as well, as Craig said. Too many funny characters in there, as well as anything is possible.
